Advice for St George’s pupils travelling abroad

Pupils interested in travelling abroad first have to produce a written request signed by their parents and then approach both the Exchange Coordinator and the Headmaster to begin the necessary formalities for the exchange trip.

Pupils’ parents have to obtain the following documentation:

  • Valid Passport with the necessary validity.

  • Return ticket: bought at the agency and/or firm of your choice.

  • Tourist Visa: if required. St George’s College will provide all the necessary information regarding the host family.

  • You must NOT OBTAIN the visa as an exchange student.
  • Authorization to leave the country signed by parents and certified by a notary.
  • Travel insurance and medical assistance abroad.

Other items to be taken:

  • St George’s uniform including sport clothes (the blazer is not necessary).
  • Personal medicines.
  • Money in cash, debit card or travel cheques (suggested amount: US$ 300 monthly).
  • Multimedia material to present any topic related with Argentina / South America / St George’s College.

  • Small gifts.

  • Camera.

Application procedure

If you would like to become an Exchange Student candidate, please write a letter addressed to the Headmaster, in which you explain the reasons why you would like to participate in this programme and why you would be a good “ambassador” for St George’s and Argentina. You also need to include three countries among the places listed for exchanges, so in case you are not selected for one of them, you might be chosen for another. Please note that:

  • You must be prepared to travel in the month of January (so you will not be able to spend a lot of time on holiday with your family).
  • You need to go for a minimum of 4 weeks.
  • You must be in St George’s at the latest by the end of February.
  • All students who go on exchanges, are expected to act as hosts here in Argentina, for at least some of the time when we have exchange students coming to us.

If you are not able to meet all 4 of these conditions, you should not be applying.

Please remember that this letter must be signed by you and your parents giving their consent. All applicants will be interviewed by the Headmaster and the Head of College. All Exchange Student Candidates should see the Exchange Coordinator about any queries.

The deadline to hand in your letter to the Exchange Coordinator is May 15th. The names of the selected Exchange Students will be announced just before the winter holidays.
